Attack of the Clones literally gave us a few lines of dialogue on that subject. When Jango Fett came to Kamino to take part in this cloning procedure, he only made 1 special request: an unaltered clone to take as his son. He would age just like a regular boy, which is why he's only 10 years old ...
It was a cringy analogy to use, but it seems like that kind of feeling is quietly understood--and agreed upon--by all creative minds caught in the current quagmire of today's movie industry.
Unfortunate for this to blow up in his face.
Abrams is solid from a technical perspective, but let's get real here. Half of the praise for his film directing (not TV stuff) comes from stylistically mimicking those he admired during his youth.

It's not so much that it HAD aliens but rather in the way they utilized them. Stuff like The Ark of The Covenant and the Holy Grail have a kind of sacred aura about them that would teach some kind of lesson, and was replicated in films in such a spectacular way. That's what makes archaeological findings work so much better than inter-dimensional beings.
I didn't think Crystal Skull was awful but it really lost steam with me after the first act and poor, overabun...
They have the skeleton of an interesting setting. Changing things up with the KGB as new Nazis can still work. Even Harrison passing the torch like he did can still work as a continuation. Just don't have Shia as lead.

Let's just keep to the point at hand. I really don't care about your pent-up rage at Lucas' storytelling decisions. Anyways, even in A New Hope there's a line brought up by Luke about attending the Imperial Academy when he's with his aunt + uncle. Considering the various heights PLUS the rapid growth of clones mentioned on Kamino, it's possible that most would've died off from old age in that batch.
