Predict The Oscars Contest - Week 3

JL|4836d ago |Blog Post|15|

So, another week has gone by and that brings us one week closer to the big night itself; and one stop closer to some lucky person walking away with a Limited Edition Star Wars film cell plaque.
That brings us to kicking off Week 3 (the next to last week) of our Predict the Oscars contest. First off, if you missed either of the previous weeks, you can go back and get involved at the links below.

Week 1: http://filmwatch.com/user/b...
Week 2: http://filmwatch.com/user/b...

Moving on, the previous two weeks our big categories highlighted the ladies and then the men. This week we move to some behind-the-scenes stuff and take a look at some of the creative minds behind what you see on the screen. Big categories this week will be the Screenplay Awards (Original and Adapted), Cinematography as well as others. Find all six below.

As a reminder, all contestants must have at least 15 comments on this site for the month to be eligible to win at the end of the month. Also, please remember to make your predictions as a separate comment; as opposed to filing your predictions as a reply to someone else's. Now, without further ado...

As usual, not contending, just having fun with the predictions.

Adapted Screenplay: The Social Network
Original Screenplay: Inception (I have a feeling The King's Speech might win this but if they don't give it to Nolan it will be a crime)
Cinematography: Wally Pfister for Inception
Film Editing: Black Swan

Now these last two, I actually haven't seen any of them. I take that back, I have seen Dogtooth...and it was crap. How "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" didn't get a nomination of that movie is beyond me. But, carrying on....I'll just take a wild guess.

Foreign Film: Incendies
Documentary (Short subject): The Warriors of Qiugang

I wish I would have seen all of these so my predictions would be more accurate...

Best Adapted Screenplay - "The Social Network" (127 deserves the win)
Best Original Screenplay - "The King's Speech"
Best Cinematography - "Inception"
Best Film Editing - "127 Hours"
Best Foreign Film - "Biutiful"
Best Documentary (Short Subject) - "Killing in the Name" Jed Rothstein

Best Adapted Screenplay - The Social Network
Best Original Screenplay - Inception (hopefully they'll at least get this one)
Best Cinematography - Inception
Best Film Editing - Black Swan
Best Foreign Film - Biutiful
Best Documentary - "The Warriors of Qiugang"

Hopefully they get it right indeed. One of the most creative movies I've seen in a long time...Nolan deserves SOMETHING, since they snubbed him on director. I have no idea how Black Swan didn't get a nod in the screenplay category either. I thought it was a much better screenplay than some of those. Especially The Kids Are All Right. Even The Fighter I'd say.

Inception does deserve the best screenplay but I'm pretty sure King's Speech will take it.

Best ADAPTED Screenplay - "The Social Network" Screenplay by Aaron Sorkin
Best ORIGINAL Screenplay - "Inception" Written by Christopher Nolan
Best Cinimatography- "Inception" Wally Pfister (Dunno, Black Swan has a chance here)
Film editing - "The Fighter" Pamela Martin

Foreign Film - "In a Better World" Denmark
Documentary - "Strangers No More" Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon

Black Swan does indeed stand a chance there I'd say. My guess (hope) is that it should be those two fighting for it. At the end of the day though, I think Pfister deserves it just for the work he did to capture things like that hallway fight scene and the zero-gravity stuff.

Best Adapted Screenplay - The Social Network
Best Original Screenplay - King's Speech
Best Cinematography - True Grit
Best Film Editing - The Social Network
Best Foreign Film - Incendies
Best Documentary (Short subject)- Strangers No More

As much as I liked True Grit I don't think it really stands a chance at winning that award.
