Sad news indeed. They've long destroyed the franchise. One was great, 2 and 3 were acceptable, but they just ruined it by killing off jigsaw. The gore that its now "known for" is the least interesting part of the other films, totally pointless and not scary at all. Unfortunately the story gets lost in all the fake screaming so you're left with few scenes worth watching.
They should start up a new saw series with Cary Elwes playing the main antagonist, then they don't have to reboot the story but they can move in a different direction and leave the mess of characters behind. The hardcore fans would know how he became a killer, but they would start the slate clean with him and a new story. It would also leave tons of room open for continuing on naturally, cause a saw 8 is just milking a dead cow.

Saw - Redefined the horror genre. Brilliant. Unmatched.

Saw II - Not bad. Another good twist, but not quite the first film. It's still a solid entry in the series.

Saw III - Back to the story, here. Well done. The gore was phenomenal, but not gore for the sake of making us sick. Fleshed out the story a bit more. (Sorry for that play on words...)

Saw IV - I was SO confused by who was who. Every guy in that movie looked the same, so I have NO idea what was going on. It's still good and it adds to the series, but wow. I was lost. Still some amazing writing and possibly the goriest of the series.

Saw V - Gore? What gore? In lieu of this, we have...story! :D I was ok with this. While it was a step back in the gore department, it was great for the overall plot of the series. It ties many loose ends together and made us legitimately care about someone besides Tobin Bell (Jigsaw/John) again.

Saw VI - Ugh. Let's not...

Saw VII: The Final Chapter - Now, this one I REALLY like. I"m not sure why either. Not only did the gore come back in a satisfying and fun way, but the story was well paced also. The jokes landed, the gore splattered (3D), the twist was AMAZING, and it rounded out the series nicely. It's definitely the most entertaining film in the series.

The last Saw wrapped things up nicely...enough already.

They ruined the 7th one anyway, I'd rather them just do a normal Saw 7 without the 3D....kind of like an alternative look on the last film

The problems were...

Jigsaw was hardly in it

They basicaly sh*t all over Jigsaws rules and legacy...

They ruined Jills character by making her this scared bitch, I wanted to see an epic battle of wits between her and hoffman...spoilers............ ......he then kills her which is ridiciulous because Jigsaw said he had a "way out" for her. In Saw 6 Jill was a strong fearless character, especialy at the end how she left Hoffman with her "Game Over" line.

Adding a pointless character....Bobby Dagen. they should of had Dr Gordon in another game so he would of had more screen time but then the twist is that he knew he was going in there so at the end he would be able to save Jill from Hoffman.....THAT would of been epic, hell even Jills death scene was kind of lame

Saw is like Freddie or Jason....it just won't DIE!!!

I originally liked the first 3 saw movies but now its like milking movie just like the old thrillers and when it doesnt click anymore to the audience they will reboot it..lame
