Bloody-Disgusting says:
We told you last week that Saw II-IV director Darren Lynn Bousman's thriller Mother's Day would not be arriving in theaters April 1. While the Rebecce De Mornay starrer awaits a fresh date, Bousman is in post production on his religious horror 11-11-11.
Earlier this year we shared with you an eerie promo trailer out of the EFM in Berlin, now Bloody Disgusting has your exclusive peak at the latest teaser that's downright bizarre and unnerving. Dig on it inside and tell us what you think!
All that 11-11-11 has going for it is a series of numbers tied to a release date; all the elevens in the world would not have made this film work. Full review by Chris Pandolfi.
Sean of The Daily Rotation wrote, "After becoming the premiere director of the Saw films, Darren Lynn Bousman has made some interesting choices, directing the slowly building cult-hit Repo! The Genetic Opera and a remake of the Charles Kaufman classic Mother’s Day. Now, he tackles a once-in-a-lifetime date in his latest film, 11-11-11, releasing today. Now, how a date can be the sole basis for a horror film’s plot is beyond me, but that’s the concept Bousman rolled with."
Collider says
The theatrical trailer for the horror film 11-11-11 has been unveiled. From Saw II director Darren Lynn Bousman, the pic tells the story of how at 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month, the 11th gate of Heaven will open up and an otherworldly entity will enter the earthly realm for 49 minutes. Judging from the trailer, some demon-like thingy and some other creepy beings will bring about absolute terror for the duration of the film. While I’m not entirely sold on the project, I do like that it appears to rely heavily on prosthetics and make-up as opposed to CGI effects.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film stars Timothy Gibbs (Another World), Michael Landes (Final Destination 2), and Wendy Glenn (The L Word). 11-11-11 opens on, well, November 11th.
This is EXACTLY the kind of movie we need to see more of. The Horror Genre has been so meek as late with nothing more than shock value torture porn. I want to feel creeped out and nothing has done that to me in years.
That does look decent.
Looks average at best to me. I'll wait for reviews before wasting any time on it.
How is this bizarre and unnerving?
I don't get scared by movies anymore. Games on the other hand...
I don't get scared by movies because no matter what's happening, it's not happening to me, it's happening to the people on the screen. With games, I'm directly controlling the person/people on the screen, so it's like it's happening to me directly. Whether that person lives or dies depends directly on me.
A religious-themed horror-movie, though, if done right, could maybe do the trick. Wasn't that impressed by the trailer, but I'll still keep an eye out for this. I'm curiously intrigued.
