Hi-Def Ninja: Dances with Wolves Blu-ray Review

John writes: This section does contain spoilers.

Michael Blake wrote the screenplay for Dances with Wolves whom also is the same man who wrote the original novel. Kevin Costner directed, produced and starred in this western that showcases a time period during and after the civil war. This frontier epic won 7 Academy Awards including “Best Picture”. Costner plays Lieutenant John G. Dunbar, where he is seen in battle at the front lines when the movie starts. After a heroic event or one of insane stupidity, he is granted a new horse (one of the army’s finest) and a choice of where his next post will be. Dunbar decides that he wants to see the western frontier before it’s all but gone. Thus, he gets put on the furthest post away from the town he originally went to get his commands. Alone at his post Dunbar makes the best of his time cleaning up the place as it the soldiers before him had let it get totally ran down.

Dances with Wolves was a fantastic movie. It's one of the few movies based on those times that I actually really like.

-MD-4810d ago (Edited 4810d ago )

It's got a really good rating on imdb (8/10). I'll check it out.

Crazay4810d ago

Come on - You've never seen Dances? Dude you must check it out. It's such a good movie. The entore cast was great.

-MD-4810d ago

I haven't watched many older films to be honest. I've seen a lot of the big ones (Clockwork Orange for example) but I haven't seen this one yet.

I'm def going to check it out.

-MD-4810d ago

Actually I thought this was older than 1990 (I just checked >_>) lol now what I said earlier sounds silly. Still it's fairly old that's probably why I've never seen it.

JL4810d ago

No Dances With Wolves. Never seen any of Aronofsky's work. Do you even watch movies? lol :P

And yes, it did sound silly when you were talking about "I haven't watched many older films". Dances With Wolves definitely isn't it the same era as Clockwork. It's not one I'd call "old" at all. Of course I do watch movies from like the 40's and 50's often enough.

On topic, Dances With Wolves is a real good movie. Not one that I care to upgrade to Blu-ray when I already have it on DVD though.

Dances with Wolves was amazing. It's one of those movies where you have to appreciate the direction they put into it.
