ComingSoon: "Lionsgate today announced that it has acquired from Mandate Pictures the U.S. distribution rights to LOL, a coming-of-age comedy starring Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore and Ashley Greene."
Jeremy of We Got This Covered wrote, "In 2010 the film LOL was complete and ready for release, yet it only made its way to a theatrical audience (barely) earlier this year. The combined star power of Demi Moore and Miley Cyrus just wasn’t enough to market this technology savvy teenage coming-of-age story. But after the dust has settled and everyone has moved on LOL manages to almost become a romance worth watching, even if only once. It’s not well-written or well-acted, but it does speak for the current generation of teens, which might be a little scary for everyone else."
Nicholas of Movies Hate You Too writes:
There are slow weeks and then there are SLOW weeks and this is definitely the latter. Essentially there are no new releases of interest aside from an A&E miniseries and a Miley Cyrus bomb. There are a few scattered catalog titles being released including an obligatory reissue, a decent teen horror flick, two very obscure 80′s films, and several films starring a blond bombshell that might interest the 50 and older crowd.
Courtney of The Daily Rotation wrote, "I have loved some pretty ridiculous movies in my time. In my early teens I obsessed over the newest Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen tween dramadies, I couldn’t wait for the latest Lindsay Lohan flicks, and I always waited for the comeback of Lizzie McGuire star, Hilary Duff. Today’s tweens and teens are more familiar with the works of young adult actors like Selena Gomez or Demi Lovato. In the case of the movie LOL, former child star Miley Cyrus attempts to shed her less than squeaky-clean Disney image and show her PG-13 chops in a ridiculous movie full of oversold teen sex, teen drinking, pot use, and unrealistic parent-child relationships."
LOL at Miley Cyrus (no pun intended)
but seriously, it'd be epic if they really adapt it.
Cast actually looks pretty decent...nothing great, but maybe it won't suck.
