Ive never been a fan of Star Trek. The first film was remarkable visually, but extremely boring. Too much talking and teaching you about nothing. I rather watch a Star Wars film.

Film wise yeah, but I could see that even having a more compelling story. Those are low budget sci-fi films so its not really fair to compare the two.

low budget doesn't imply bad movie though...

Perfect example would be super-size me, which pulled down $29,500,000 world wide gross with a merely $65000 budget.

No im not saying that. Movies like Paranormal Activity get away with low budget too. However Sci-fi of this scale is entirely differnt. Alot of visuals and sets to be made. Again not something that should be compared.

I agree Kiri, it's a bit better than BSG, though I think Galactica does have the better story potential. It really depends on what you're looking for from your Sci-Fi adventure films.

No budget doesn't matter, and even low budget sci-fi can be incredibly fun and well done. Just look at Starship Troopers. A very fun film.

I like Starship troopers buts its horrible lmao. The film making aspects, its just plain stupid and bad. The second and third one prove what Im saying too. People thinking big with a small budget.

LOL! That's my boy! Of course everyone knows I'm a massive Star Wars fan, but I'll say that the new Star Trek reboot impressed me a great deal. It went leaps ahead of the previous movies, and if you're upset about the talking...go watch some of the originals; they'll put you to sleep.

Good to know things are still coming along nicely on this film, and that the story is locked down. I'm glad Khan won't be in it. The point of the reboot was to reinvigorate the franchise, not retread the same ground. I'd like to see the Klingons really make a come back though.

Probably will, its Star Trek. Probably be exploring the stuff for years. I just wish it wasnt as boring as it is and they explored more of the universe. Like how Star Wars has evolved into so many thing.
