Other articles I've read on the web suggests that the son of the 6th richest man in the world has some ties with the studios and is pushing for this film to be made (even if he has to fund most of it himself).
I think it would be interesting, but there's just no need for a Top Gun 2. By all means make a fun and exciting fighter pilot movie, but why would it have to have anything to do with the first film? Especially since Cruise won't be the main character, what's the point of re-visiting the franchise?
