Ben Affleck Will Not Direct ‘The Batman’

Variety

Ben Affleck has decided to step down as director of “The Batman” and remain on as a producer and star of the project.

Affleck is still on board to play the superhero, but sources close to the talent said Affleck and Warner Bros., after discussing how to best make the film possible, came to the decision together.

well that's a drag... i think he;s a great director. i'm guessing it has a little osmething to do with all the media attention and perhaps the restrictions of the costume while directing. i can imagine that would be really difficult.

Agreed. And Affleck will retain a degree of creative input so that's always comforting. You gotta wonder, who will end up directing? Matt Reeve's isn't a bad choice but I'm sure there are better choices out there!

i think matt reeves is a good option for sure.

i think the real reason he step down is because Live By Night did so poorly at the box offce

Stop making Batman overpowered.

Superman would destroy Batman in a heartbeat.

Awful movie that was.

You do know it's not the first time Batman has beaten Superman, right? Iy was in the the comic and there's even an animation too

Unlike the movie though, in the comics. At least in TDKR comic he needed a lot of help. He spent years and millions on synthesizing a man-made Kryptonite. Making the suit, the tank. Recruiting a pissed off Oliver Queen as back up. Having Carrie Kelly as back up. And he still BARELY "won". In the movie he did it fairly easy and with only a few scratches. :/ I know Supes was kinda holding back but it still felt a bit wrong.
