Not many expected the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie to hit the
mainstream as it did. Sure, Marvel Studios clearly had some faith in the
flick — otherwise it would have never been made — but none of us fans had
any real reason to assume it would be any good. For starters, it was based
on a comic book that virtually no one had read (on a side note, if you’re
one of the people who claim to have read it, you’re a liar), and as such,
it was already doomed to face an uphill battle, due to the mainstream not
having a familiar name to latch onto.
