The documentary chronicles the failed attempt of Director Tim Burton’s film adaptation of “Superman Lives” starring actor Nicholas Cage as Clark Kent/Superman as he faces the likes of Braniac, Lex Luthor, and Doomsday.

The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? feels like a pretty strong rebuttal to that viewpoint, showing that yeah, this would have been one weird Superman movie, but it also might have been a fascinating one. But even if you come out of the documentary thankful the plug was pulled, the personalities involved and the story’s they tell are worthwhile and offer some great insight into just what a struggle it can be when so many people try to work together to pull off a film of this scope.
