Blu-ray Review: A Most Violent Year | Cinematically Enigmatic

CE: The year was 1972, and Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather had moviegoers captivated with its take on the American Dream, as seen through the eyes of an Italian-American crime family. A tale about an immigrant businessman (Oscar Isaac) and his wife (Jessica Chastain), who are trying to build an empire for themselves in the face of violent beatings, armed hijackings and impending legal prosecution, A Most Violent Year has all the makings of a gripping crime-drama. But really, it's the enigmatic pairing of Isaac and Chastain that makes the film as engrossing as it is. The Blu-ray touts a top-notch A/V presentation and a host of quality extras, making it an excellent way to catch up with one of the year's best films.
