Exodus: Hacked And Slashed – A Cinematic History Of Studio Butchery

WOW247: "The soon-to-be released Exodus: Gods and Kings marks the latest retelling of the epic Biblical story of Moses, and the return to sword-and-sandal movies by the film’s acclaimed director Ridley Scott.

"However, the film also has been met with a hefty wallop of criticism from reviewers, with an accusatory finger pointed at the heavily edited nature of the movie. Certain scenes appear to be missing and jarringly jump around, huge swathes of character development is lost, and a stellar supporting cast including Sigourney Weaver, Aaron Paul and John Turturro are reduced to a handful of lines between them."

Blu-ray Review: Exodus: Gods and Kings | Cinematically Enigmatic

CE: The story of how Moses led Egypt's Hebrew population out of slavery and into the promised land was most famously brought to life in Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments. Now, nearly sixty years later, it's director Ridley Scott's turn to bring the epic story of Moses to the big screen in Exodus: Gods and Kings. Starring Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as Ramses, the film follows in the footsteps of another big budget Biblical epic, Darren Aronofsky's Noah. But unlike that movie, Scott's take on the Book of Exodus feels less rooted in fantasy, instead playing more like a historical epic in the vein of Gladiator or Kingdom of Heaven. It's far from perfect though. Heavy on spectacle but light on drama, Exodus: Gods and Kings isn't one of the director's most indelible works. However, it still merits viewing, especially on Blu-ray.

Exodus: Gods and Kings Review - Gambitcon.com

In 1300 BC Moses, a general and a member of the royal family finds out the truth about his origin, that he truly is a hebrew child. He is sent to exile, where after a while he finds a new family. God then chooses him to be the leader, who will rise against the Pharaoh Ramses and will set free the Hebrew slaves and will guide to their promised land.

Despite a rocky start, this typical sword and sandal film turns into a biblical carnage of epic proportions that is fun, creative and a perfect film for the holidays.
