Godzilla and Pacific Rim Inspiring J.J. Abrams to Go Forward with Cloverfield 2?

Thanks to movies like Pacific Rim and of course Godzilla, it seems as if projects featuring giant monsters are on the upswing; and as far as we're concerned, that's a pretty awesome thing. Know who else thinks it's awesome? Director J.J. Abrams.

In a recent interview with Playboy, Abrams had the following to say about the aforementioned flicks as well as a possible sequel to Cloverfield.

Yes, a Cloverfield sequel is a must, but please, without the friggin "running around with a camera" sequel... Nobody likes those.

yeah, they should limit running around with the camera, it makes me dizzy. they should keep it calm and steady, they can move it randomly but lessen it.

Cloverfield and Super 8 had terrible monsters design, generic and boring. No character at all.

super 8 was a great film but the monster design was not that intimidating or frightening and in my opinion was the weakest thing about the movie that could have been improved.

cloverfield 2 is not a bad idea, ill watch it if ever it comes out, but i wont be looking forward to it. i like the film but i am really more into godzilla.
