Hollywood has a very checkered history with accounting. I saw a story on how they often own the companies associated with it such as promotion and such so they can say well we spent 100 million etc. The reason is that since they own it, they did not spend anything close but are able to put down whatever they want and spread the cost out to other areas but use the on paper cost to justify not paying out.
Sony claimed the first Spider-man movie had not made money despite 400 mi...
Let us also not forget that despite the actors all agreeing to work for scale and take a cut of the profits instead, Paramount passed on the idea and the film was for all purposes dead only to be revived a few weeks later when the studio had a change of heart.
Welcome, I will let Joseph know. I wanted to see it but for some reason in the Phoenix market they had a no guest policy at our press screener, we can usually bring one guest and up to 4 for most family films. So knowing my wife wanted to see it as well and since our Seattle office did not have a guest restriction, he went. We often have one done in each market so we have a backup review ready.
To me a third film was made simply for studio greed and to pad egos.
That would make sense. Like the helicopter and panoramic shots while the weather is the way they want it to be.
I thought it had begun weeks ago as they had confirmed some filming at a game I believe was already done.
That is to be expected, they have an outline and several drafts. Look for Abrams and Kasden to be writing up until filming.
So am I wrong for appreciating the technical aspects of the film and the new scenes but also being bothered by the fact that they were included to pad the film and justify a third film?
I agree. what we heard is that aside from agreeing on Money, Ford wanted to see the storyline for Solo in the upcoming films. This makes sense as he has long said he had no interest in playing Solo again and even wanted Lucas to kill him off in Jedi.
He has new kids I believe and he has said of appearing in Expendables 3 hey, I have kids to put through college. while he is worth alot, he had one of the most expensive divorces in Hollywood from his wife so you can see how he want...
Ford apparently insisted that it happen in order to sign on for more Star Wars films.
DC is in a bind as outside of Batman, fans have been mixed to cold on their recent adaptations and with so much venom towards Affleck I can see the suits trying to please everyone by adding in more people.
Now we have reports that The Flash will be in it as well. Seems like Warner is trying hard to do their JLA film without actually making one. Might as well bring Ryan Reynolds in as well as make a go of it.
Exactly, Electro is supposed to come across as this NY Heavy type not LLwanda or Ray Charles.
I just do not like Foxx as Electro and Paul G as the Rhino especially the mechanical suit. That being said, it looks good.
As big as the first one was they opened up a bit more as it is a proven draw now.
Remember, Lionsgate is not a studio that does mega-budget films so it was nice to see that they did this series up correctly.
That would be a good choice. I was not blown away by "Ender's Game".
Of course, I am sorry, I did mean the Droids. I was distracted when I typed it.
Lucas had always said the robots would be the only characters to appear in all 9 films years ago when he still had ideas on doing them.
I agree, I am so bored with the show. I keep watching but wow, it gets dull. You have a supporting actor being asked to carry a series and you surround him with the most dull characters possible.
Rise was a big suprise as it came out with low expectations for many. I remember our press screener was a 10 AM Friday one, not the usual 7 PM ones we get Mon-Wed so it seemed as if the studio was keeping their distance, but wow, what a great time it turned out to be.
