Very true. I just see Disney as being the bigger risk. They had to pay alot to get the franchise, they have many projects hinging upon it being a hit and so on. Univseral can say well the 12+ year gap hurt it, audience was not what it was an move on if it fails.

We posted one with him last month on the film in our magazine so while a good interview, not even close to an exclusive.

He is out to Terminate the competition.

Not screened for the press in most markets was all the notice I needed to avoid this one.

Remember the golden rule. How do you spell love in Hollywood? MONEY. It made it and they want more and will find a way to go on. John Belushi passing away did not stop a Blues Brothers sequel.

Easy answer, money. It was done by an indeopendant studio, it made money, so they figure ok lets make another to make more money which will give us cash to make other films.

My biggest worry is that it will be to much of a good thing. The Star Wars films became legends and we had to make do with only three films. Then came a flood of Expanded Universe which game way to the Prequels and more Expanded Universe. Now we have five movies coming, at least, a new animated series, and an animated film. Having New Star Wars every year or every other year may dilute things to the point where they are not the big events that they used to be. A new Star Wars film was a major...

Many I heard from said they did not like the liberties with the backstory and the violence.

It goes without saying but marketing will be key. They cannot afford a John Carter where people are wondering who they are. Now when they showed it off at the D23 Expo, people seemed very enthusiastic over it. I spoke with the director and he said that a person can come in cold to the film with no knowledge of the series or the characters and will be fine. I think the plan is to play up Marvel heavily and then market it around Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to ...

The production is a troubled mess. They went in with Batman vs Superman, but Warner has tryed to Backdoor their failed JLA movie into it. They added Wonder Woman, they supposedly have Green Lantern In it, as well as The Flash and so on. They need to make up their minds and make a JLA film if they have a script and if not, do not try to force one in Superman.

They tryed to bring Superman back a few years ago and it did not meet what they wanted. So they started again. They ...

You summed it up well. I would love one but they are all so busy. I am just glad this did not end up in the hands of some unproven people just so the studio could keep making money. Now if the new Godzilla hits big you may see a run for this type of film and the pressure would be on to make it.

While we as fans agree most of them are awful. I met Uwe Boll a few times and as his recent dramas show, he can do good film. He said the studios sell off the name for films but forbid you from following the games, the look, and even names most of the time. The issue is studios throwing their films into the grinder without making sure they are done right. Dead Space, Bioshock, and Valve movies have been held up or have not happened as the studio has strict controls and script approval and thi...

I saw an animated film in Target that was so blatantly a rip off of Frozen made to try to cash in.

I saw it as necessary as you have to see how debauched of a lifestyle they lived and I cann guess what is shown is nothing compared to what actually happens in reality.

I will let him know. With Christmas deadline he wanted to make sure we had it in time.

They did not put a ton of originality in it as they went with tried and true formulas.

There was a report that select in L.A. were given one. Those are always suspect as those are ones where they provide quotes for the ads. You have to wonder if a film is considered not one to screen for the press, and yet one market of hand picked media has all sorts of quotes of praise, if a payoff is being done.

I heard that some screenings done to date were so bad people were booing and walking out. So the studio decided to cut bait and not screen for the press. I always wonder when they contact us as say hey do you want to run a contest and give out passes and prizes. Usually this happens for ones that are not screening as they want the publicity for the film that they are not going to get from a review. Some solid films that do screen for the press do this but not all.
