Let's Hear From You: Prizes

JL|4816d ago |Blog Post|17|

As all you FilmWatchers know, each month we bring you new contests which enable you to win cool prizes every month. So far we've had things like free movies, box sets, movie memorabilia, Netflix subscriptions and even blu-ray players. And of course, we plan on giving away plenty more cool prizes as we continue our giveaways and contests each and every month.

Now, I still have plenty of cool prize ideas lined up that I'm sure plenty of you will enjoy. However, I wanted to give the community here a chance to chime in. Also, you'll just make my job that much easier. I can only be so creative, afterall :p

So, I'd like to hear from you guys (and gals). Have any ideas for things you may like to see given away in future contests? Any cool prize ideas that you think might have been overlooked? Anything you just really want so bad that you'd be here everyday fighting the mobs if you had to just to get your chance at winning it? Or maybe you even want to add a fun contest idea?

If you have any ideas, feel free to comment below and share your thoughts and ideas. Your suggestions are no guarantee that I will get around to including your ideas in future contests, but I would like to hear from you guys and include the community. See what you think and what you all would like.

So, let the suggestions begin.

I forgot what it was exactly, I think it was predicting the box office numbers? Doing that would be fun as its a way to keep the Oscar style thing going.

Another one would be to do something with blogs. Perhaps who writes the most interesting blog for the month? Not sure how you would rank that or anything, but its a portion of the site that kinda gets ignored.

As for prizes the Star Wars thing is really neat, and I really enjoy earning movies by just participating with the site. I post about it everytime I win, dunno if I got anyone to come join in personally yet but im trying.
Some prize ideas off the top of my head

-Full size movie posters to go along with a chosen movie, if possible.
-Movie rental or something extremely cheap for people that pass a certain threshold. Like 3000 comment points. However people winning other prizes are excluded.

Ill try to come up with stuff, this was all off the top of my head.

The poster idea sounds cool.

Earning movies won't be going anywhere and will continue to be something of a staple in the prize department.

Posters huh? Something I had considered but was never really sure anyone would be interested in something like that.

Alright I'm new to filmwatch but I'll chime in. Be aware I feel like using a lot of brackets for no reason.

I like Soldiers "predict the box office" suggestion. I think I could have some fun with that. I'm not a big fan of the predict the oscars because I haven't seen all of the films yet (I think we're all in that boat).

Prizes should be more "____ of your choosing" or something instead of being chosen already beforehand. I mean let's be honest the community here is small at the moment (nothing wrong with that) and I can't imagine everyone is an ALIEN fan big enough to work toward being a top contributor. Know what I mean?

How about movie ticket prizes? Like say next month the top 2 contributors get movie money (maybe enough to get you and a friend to the theater two or three times). I think this would be an awesome incentive to get people like me back into the theater because it has become fairly costly ($15 just for a 3D showing...) I just checked cinemark.com and they do offer giftcards and the like. I this is a pretty sweet idea and it fits with the site perfectly.

I'm not a big fan of the blog contests because I've noticed on other sites there's usually 1 person that loves to write them and everyone else sits back and loses.

How much money are allotted for these sites for prizes? Looks like $200-300/month?

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of credit for movie tickets.

What do you guys think?

JL4809d ago

Movie tickets (or rather Fandango credit) is something we've given away before. And will probably be something we revisit on a number of occasions, being something of a staple in the prize area (much like DVD/BD of choice; just maybe not quite as frequently).

I like the movie ticket idea. That could take place of my movie rental idea too.

I am actually that big a fan of the Alien Series. I want the quadrilogy so effin bad =P.

Lol I was just using it as an example. The point is not everybody likes the same thing.

Sunny_D4816d ago

Well, i remember getting my Pay pal 25 dollar award, as well as my Avatar Blu ray and Dvd set. Thanks FilmWatch. ;)

Avatar? For shame Sunny.

Sunny_D4814d ago

What? I missed it in theatres and thought it was pretty good. :0

A couple of interesting ideas here. Some which have been considered, some not. Feel free to continue posting your prize ideas, though. I already have a long list of ideas for prizes, but this serves as a way for you, the community, to express your thoughts and possibly get future prizes you may enjoy, that I might have overlooked.

What about film set props or replicas of movie pieces.

Now that would be absolutely sick
