The 10 Best Films of Alfred Hitchcock

Jim Turnbull writes:

"The 13th of August marked the birthday of one of the most celebrated and enjoyed directors of all time, Alfred Hitchcock. Known as the master of the thriller, and one of the original auteurs, his filmography reads as a ‘whats what’ of cinema between the 1930s and 1960s. Whether it was his signature long shots, cameos, or innovative filmmaking, Hitchcock kept audiences gripped to the screens, and is still as hard hitting today as he was in his prime."

Like the list but not in that order. I think Pyscho should be number 1. Then maybe The Birds, North By Northwest and after that it doesn't matter.

I'd have to disagree. While Psycho definitely deserves to be in at least the top 3, I wouldn't put it at number 1. For me, Rear Window will always be number 1 I think. Then probably Psycho. Then Vertigo and North By Northwest would probably battle it out for 3rd and 4th for me.

I have to say, I don't think The Birds would make my list. It was just too corny for me to include in a top 10. Especially when he had so many great movies.

In fact, I'd be hard pressed to make a top 10 list for him. There's so many I like. Even taking off The Birds from this list, I still would want to at least add Dial M for Murder, Strangers on a Train and The Man Who Knew Too Much. In fact, Dial M for Murder might get up there kinda high for me. Maybe even teetering on breaking the top 5 of my favorites.

There's just so many to choose from and so many I like. But definitely, Rear Window gets #1 for me.

Forgot about 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' That was a good one...I like all of his too but I did like The Birds...it may have been corney but I still liked it a lot...it was just one of those movie that makes you wonder...you know? How the hell did they get all those bird together like that? I mean they didn't exactly have all the technology they have now to multiply them all.
