Shadowlocked - New Trailer For Fast Five...But Do We Really Want It?

Shadowlocked writes:
So, after much speculation, it has been confirmed – we have yet another Fast & Furious remake to ‘look forward’ too. But are we really looking forward to it? The franchise is now approaching its ten year anniversary and, as it nears this eventful landmark, one cannot help but feel this may be one that should be left to die. Call me mad, but I personally feel that each sequel has succeeded in lowering the tone and dumbing down the content of each of its predecessors – so why should this be any different?

I'm excited for it. I love these movies when things are done correctly. The first one, and Tokyo Drift are awesome movies. I didnt like the acting in 2 Fast 2 Furious, but the cars were awesome. The latest one didnt have enough racing for me to be happy.

The new one has The Rock and Vin Diesel in it, that alone is exciting. Plus Its the entire group getting together, which means the guy from Tokyo Drift is in it. He is a good actor, has a good backstory, and best of all he loves muscle cars.

I'm pumped for this film, i love them. Are they the best out there? no but its improving.

Who are you talking about that's going to be in this from Tokyo Drift? Lucas Black? Cause he's not in this new one. I agree that he's a good actor, but he's not in Fast Five that I know of.

Odd...they said it would be kind of a cross over with this film and he shows up. Then at the end of the last movie he was there too. So i was all excited for that to happen since Tokyo Drift was by far the best in the series.

Interesting. I actually thought Tokyo Drift was the worst in the series (followed closely behind by Part 2).

I would never expect this franchise to go down as great movies or anything, but I don't think that's what it's aiming for. For the most part they've been pretty good (decent) mindless action movies that were good for the racing and action scenes. Especially the first one.

This one seems to be taking it back to the first (which was the best in my opinion). Thus, if done right, it should be a fun way to waste a couple hours.

@Soldierone - On the whole, I generally agree with all your comments, but I cannot on this occasion.

Tokyo Drift was a terrible film, with everything from the acting to the idea being downright ludicrous. I hated the protagonists accent and just thought that the idea of a Deep South American beating a highly-skilled, Japanese drifter was totally unbelievable.

As much as I would like to, I can't help but worry about this. Vin Diesel vs The Rock will be immense - and the women and cars are always fun to watch - but I just don't know if there is enough left in the franchise for me to be excited ...
