When I told my wife I wanted to see Black Swan, she was more than a little surprised that I wanted to see a movie about Ballet. It was an awesome movie. Every single aspect of it was good.

Why is that so surprising to people? I asked my brother to see it with me and he looked at me like I was nuts and then proceeded to ask me if I was into men.

True story.

Most guys have no desire to watch movies about dancing and dancers but this was more psychological in my opinion.

JL4820d ago

lol I've actually experienced similar reactions. It was only exacerbated by the fact that I went to the theaters alone to watch this. My brother and/or friends giving me crap about seeing a "ballet movie".

In all honesty, I don't even remember all that much ballet in it. I mean the whole ballet theme was constantly in the forefront of the movie, but up until the end no real ballet. It's definitely not a movie about ballet. It's a psychological thriller that just uses ballet as the backdrop.

Black Swan is a ballet movie about as much as Jerry Maguire is a football movie. Even less so.

LOL - Dude, why would you go alone? That's really funny.

You're absolutely right though.

JL4819d ago

lol Cause I have no problem going to the movies alone. And I did it during a Monday afternoon--a time when nobody was available.
