The Breeze: “The Birth of a Nation” is one of those movies that grabs you from the first moment and never lets go. Set in 1831, This breath-taking film takes a look at slavery in Southampton County, Virginia. While there have been other, and possibly better, movies on this topic (e.g. “12 Years a Slave”, “Django Unchained”), this film was able to bring new perceptions and stories to the table. This movie is engaging from start to finish and the first “must-see” film of the year.
