This week for TVEnthusiast's weekly news show, The Week's News, lots of news is coming out of the TCA panels in Los Angeles. At HBO, Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) has a new family drama, a Deadwood movie is currently being written by David Milch, Jon Stewart has an animated cable news channel parody in the works, True Detective is still a thing, and a Game of Thrones spin-off is in discussion. At Starz, new series in development include Tomorrow Today, Pussy Valley, Teresa, and Dirty Girls Social Club. At ABC, the network is talking to Marvel and LucasFilm about new potential series in the MCU and Star Wars universes (respectively). Brendan Fraser (The Mummy) and James Purefoy (Rome) find work, while Calista Flockhart (Supergirl) and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) keep their jobs. Meanwhile, Houdini & Doyle was canceled by Fox, and Powers was canceled by Playstation. New shows in development include Christodora, Sword Art Online (Live Action), and Black Flags. Time Warner buys a stake in Hulu, and NBC reveals the most obvious research conclusion in the industry's history.
