Daisy Ridley On Rey's Parents, ‘Darker' Episode VIII, And Whether She's Really a Jedi

MTV

When the trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story dropped earlier this week, it inspired a slew of new fan theories, but the one that’s garnered the most attention is the connection between Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso and Daisy Ridley’s Rey. Does the key to Rey’s parentage lie in rebel fighter Jyn? Or are they just two strong women who coincidentally share the same color hair?

WizzroSupreme2937d ago

Rey has no parents – she was a product of the Force, a reincarnation of the Chosen One. The cycle continues on and on again.

RetrospectRealm2937d ago

She doesn't just appear out of thin air obviously. Even Anakin had a mother.

Hold_It2937d ago

@Retrospect

Yeah, but one of the biggest plot holes is we never are told/shown who Anakin's father is or if he even has one in the Cinematic Universe.

sjaakiejj2937d ago

Not that I'm a big fan of the prequels, but the question of Anakin's father was answered explicitly in the Phantom Menace

"Had he been born in the Republic, we would have identified him early. The Force is unusually strong with him, that much is clear. Who is his father?"
"There was no father. I carried him, I gave birth, I raised him, I can't explain what happened."
―Qui-Gon Jinn and Shmi Skywalker

So basically Anakin is Jesus.

Eiffel2937d ago

During the opera scene in Episode 3 it's heavily implied that Palpatine created Anakin. Palpatine tells Anakin about his former master Darth Plagueis, whom had such a vast knowledge of the darkside that he could use midichlorians to create life. He taught this ability to his apprentice, Palpatine who would later kill him in his sleep. To imply it even farther, the whole scene goes on while both of them watch what appears to be an egg with sperm cells passing through.

Like sjaakiejj stated, he's pretty much a Jesus. He has a human mother, but his conception by extension of Palpatine is the "Force" itself.

@sjaakiejj

Woman in the real world claim this happens all the time. How do we know Shmi wasn't some crazy chick?

RetrospectRealm2936d ago (Edited 2936d ago )

That's not a plot hole. He was concieved through the force, which was stated in the film pretty explicitly.

@ yomfweeee We know Shimi isn't just making it up and being crazy because Anakin was tested and shown to be off the midichlorian charts, even surpassing Yoda's count.

JustInTlME2936d ago

Darth Plageuis created Anakin.

@skaakiejj

Me either haha, thanks for the information. People weren't kidding when they said that movie was forgettable.

LOL! I guess so, I'll consider that non-headcanon.

Stringerbell2936d ago

I just want to say this, we now have Donnie Yen in the SW universe. Pure amaze.

madjedi2936d ago

I would still like to know how she becomes a master of the force in 2 days, and will see also replace leia was the top resistance diplomat/general.

Might as well since they already made her a master at every single other important skill needed by the group.

Although it will be hilarious to see what reasons they give to try and explain it vs the countless other force users that spent decades to a lifetime to master the force in the star wars universe.

dota2champion2936d ago (Edited 2936d ago )

She's not a Jedi yet, she's just a force user. In order for her to be a Jedi, she needs to be trained by a Jedi, and her dad is Luke Skywalker, so obvious!
