The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016) Review | FilmGamesEtc

FGE - I came into Allegiant with hope. I hoped that, as someone who enjoyed the Hunger Games, it would fulfil some of the promise this franchise still had left in it. I admit, I didn’t particularly enjoy the first two films, but I still came back for more because I hoped it would take advantage of what it still had to gain, especially given the way Insurgent ended. I knew I was being optimistic from the start, but after having watched this third entry (with another to come next year for nonsensical reasons I’ll explain in a bit) I realized how foolish I was. I want to be a lot more annoyed than I actually am, but I suppose that’s just a mark of how little I care at this point. I never like to leave franchises unfinished, but I do wonder how I can bring myself to return for the finale next year when the set-up is so poor, as will many others, I imagine.
