FGE - Inspirational sports dramas based on true stories have become an almost 'by the numbers,' formulaic brand of filmmaking over the past decade or so. My concern with the Jesse Owens biopic, Race, was that it would lazily recycle old tropes and repackage the same movie that has been sold to moviegoers for the past decade or so. To say that this film avoided these pitfalls completely would be dishonest, yet I still found that Race contained more than enough unique prospective to make this an enjoyable moviegoing experience.
