The new Vacation is a worthy successor to the legacy of the National Lampoon film (and the earlier sequels) that begat it. No, it doesn’t quite equal that first movie, but it’s funny throughout, filled with many commendably outrageous moments. Some purists may bemoan the Griswolds delving more into gross-out comedy terrain, but hey, this is Rusty’s family, and they’re not going to be exactly like Clark’s. But at their core, they’re still Griswolds.
