Weren't they shooting for a PG-13 with this? Dont see how that would work given how dark / twisted the source material is...

SilentNegotiator3423d ago

If the focus were more on the politics that created and destroyed rapture, the breakthrough in the power-inducing drugs, etc and less on running around killing things (basically not be that awful DOOM movie), I don't see why they couldn't pull off a PG-13 rating.

Third sentence in the article:
" Verbinski's wanted to make the film R-rated and with a budget of $200 million."

coolbeans3423d ago

From the get-go they were going for an R-rated film. The underwhelming finanical results of Watchmen actually led the studio away from taking the chance of such an expensive blockbuster film and wanted to PG13-ify it, to which Levine decided to give it the axe.

LightDiego3424d ago

Should be a series, not a movie. More freedom to create, the possibility of exploring the narrative more, and goes on.

They look like they're from Bioshock video game concept

Porcelain_Chicken3424d ago

They look like they are concepts straight from the game. My expectations are always low for video game adaptations. But I must admit. Was really curious to see this. Despite the studios odd choice to pull for a Pg-13 rating.

I wonder what happened to this film?

dota2champion3423d ago

If you read the article, it explained why this film was cancel

StarWarsFan3423d ago

Yeah, but you'd think it would have been picked up again or given to another studio or something; not dead for eternity. I think they start developing movies based on videos games far too long after the games are at their height. Just look at Need For Speed; that should have been made more than a decade ago.
