This calculated and shocking opening gambit sums up Gone Girl in its entirety, perfectly illustrating how it meticulously leads you in one direction only to later reveal that you’ve arrived at a totally unexpected destination. It’s the mystery-thriller genre at its best and, once again, David Fincher is the one to deliver it...
