Marvel

When Marvel's "Ant-Man" hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay contributing to the film's script.

As I said in the dup article

Out of all decent choices they've been flinging back and forth over the past week or so this is the best they could do. The only thing this guy has done which has been great was Yes Man

The Break Up, Bring it On, Down With Love, New Girl (not a fan)....none of them remotely interesting.

Seems like a major downgrade from Edgar Wright and to be honest it seems a bit like a "We have no choice" pick.

Crazay3610d ago

It does feel like a step down to me too. I don't have any real idea of who I would have liked to be in there but this seems to be a little off.

But now I can't help but wonder if the new writer coming in is just to do some cleanup or if he's going to do a major overhaul.

Porcelain_Chicken3610d ago

I agree that it feels like a downgrade but Captain America 2 was directed by the guys who directed You, Me, and Dupree. And Cap 2 actually turned out pretty good. Jon Favreau who directed Elf & Zathura directed Iron man which was fantastic! And easily the best Iron man movie.

So you never really know who will work out.

christian hour3610d ago

Personally, if you take away the man who's been working on Ant-Man for 8 years on and off and get someone to pick up the peices at the last minute, your movie is not goign to end up anywhere near as good as was planned.

I've been waiting for Wright's Ant-Man almost as long as I was waiting for that third cornetto film now, doesn't feel right anymore without him. Such a shame.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Ant-Man's only power to shrink? I'm scratching my head as to how they plan to make this a compelling movie that the masses would enjoy. Regardless, at least they have a good cast.

Simon_Brezhnev3610d ago

He's one of the lamest avengers. I hope his movie flops. I hope they do a Black Panther movie but that will never happen.

joeorc3610d ago (Edited 3610d ago )

in my opinion he is one of the best Avengers, but I admit i may be a lil Bias, because out of the Avengers i like Antman and Iron man the most..lol
Not to mention, Hank is one of the most powerful Avengers its not so much the shrinking its the fact he could drop an entire full size building on top of other's heads if he wanted to! could you imagine that scene with iron man and Loki would have instead of the Hulk, well "we can drop entire building's on you and your Army" not just boasting, but really we can do it..lmao

think about this: Hank is Earth's Scientist Supreme, as decreed by Eternity. grin

http://www.comicvine.com/ha...

"His skill at stopping criminals became so widely regarded that many criminals decided they needed to eliminate Ant-Man before they even began their nefarious careers."

lmao

Easy, they'll stuff a billion jokes. = 75 minutes
15 Avengers references = 20 minutes
Exposition & fancy speeches = 20 minutes
Bad guy speech = 1 minute
Baddy Vs. Hero fight = 5 minutes
Nick Fury segment = Too f**king long
Villain's death, surrender or disappearance = 1 minute
Explanation for the odd surrender or disappearance = 0 minutes
Hero Vs. Baddy #2 = 6 minutes
Yet another Marvel character fakes his death = 5 minutes
Credits to get to ac scene = 10 minutes
After credits scene itself = 9 seconds

That's a 163 minute movie right there!! 500million! And a sequel...

christian hour3610d ago

Edgar Wright showd up to comic-con bout 2 years ago with some test footage of how he'd like to use Antmans powers in fight scenes. It's pretty incredible stuff.

Theres more to him than "shrinking".

joeorc3610d ago (Edited 3610d ago )

OH No not just shrinking, remember Hank pym's power's are all Skill and extremely High IQ, in alot of ways like Stark Pym is unique on how each designs the gear they use to fight crime, remember he can grow superhuman in size ie: GiantMan, can shrink other objects or enlarge them!

Genius-level intellect
Size-shifting from nearly microscopic to ~100 feet gigantic (both at extremes)
Ability to transfer his size-shifting ability to other beings and objects
Bio-Energy Projection, also known as a Bio-Sting (particularly during his periods as Ant-Man & Yellowjacket)
Flight using grafted wings during his period as Yellowjacket
Telepathic communication with ants using a cybernetic helmet as Ant-Man
Superhuman strength, stamina, and mass in giant form as Giant-Man, Goliath, and Yellowjacket

on top of that he created Ultron, which than created the vision!

Many a Villain has underestimated Pym to their folly..lmao

Simon_Brezhnev3610d ago

He's still lame He and the rest of the avengers can't stop Hulk if they wanted too. For you to over hype him so much he sure almost got killed by Hulk a lot of times.

Ant man can grow up to 50 foot as well

Crazay3610d ago

Adam Mckay's involvement in this film is a huge plus. I'm not familiar with Peyton Reed's work, but I'm glad the cast hasn't changed. I'm excited to see Paul Rudd's take on the character. Plus, I don't recall ever seeing him in an action movie.

joeorc3610d ago

Ray Has

Ability to shrink and grow his body and other objects to varying degrees (including the subatomic level) while manipulating his weight to his advantage
Ph.D. in physics

in shrinking and biochem i would give it to the Atom for who could shrink the smallest!, but in cybernetic's he is no where near as good as Pym, though when it comes to other science like Atomic's and other related nuke fields Ray has the advantage over Pym.
