'X-Men': Major Change in this Summer's 'Days of Future Past'

There will be one less mutant in this summer’s highly anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past, which combines the casts of the original X-Men trilogy with those of 2011′s First Class. Director Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects) has revealed to EW exclusively that a rescue sequence — shot early in the film’s production and featuring Magneto (Ian McKellen), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Rogue (Anna Paquin), and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) — has been cut from the final film. Sadly, this means that Rogue’s screen time has been significantly chopped down as well.

i think it was a good idea because there is nothing left for her to do anyway, she literally signed up for the cure project in the last stand so why bother, i was also surprised that the mentioned rescue sequence was just her screen time then it was not worth it to have her for just a couple of minutes. i like anna pacquin but i did not like how she was portrayed as rogue she more resembled jubilee as a minor member of the x men.

i probably forgot any parts in the film explaining to the cure being somewhat temporary. i think the government's purpose is to eradicate the mutant powers permanently. maybe the experiment they had made was still lacking something that is why in the end magneto gradually got some of his abilities back.however, i believe it might also depend on the mutant type because it was also explained some mutants have higher ranks than the others making magneto being probably level 4 or something just behind phoenix who had the highest level. magneto even left mystique in the middle part of the film assuming she is permanently cured.

thinking about it you are correct the initial involvement of ana paquin in the film makes it look like she only lost her powers temporarily that is the only explanation why there was a scene involving her rescue. too bad it was cut, i hope a more significant scene replaces it.

Yeah the chess piece moved at the end. So nobody knew it was temporary until mutants actually take the cure and figure out that it is indeed temporary.

Well...Rogue never had a purpose in this particular "Days Of Future's Past" scenario, anyway. If you reference the comics or even the X-Men TAS cartoon...you'll see that this story focuses more on Wolverine, Bishop, Xavier, Cable and Apocalypse. Granted, this movie has been tweaked and modified from the original source material, a bit...but that's Hollywood.

I do agree that Anna was probably the wrong person to cast as Rogue. Rogue was always a southern belle and had a very distinct southern accent, when she spoke. Anna simply does not portray Rogue in an accurate sense. In fact...they got Anna's Rogue being somewhat EMO and lacks a certain confidence. If it were me...I'd recast her role before giving Rogue anymore screen time. She aint right for the character. Sorry...

You forgot Kitty. She is the main character, and the movie trashed her good. I have no respect whatsoever for the movie franchise. Stop milking Wolverine. Give me a full reboot with the ALL the characters I loved from the comics.

I really don't care about the actors they choose. I lived to learn that even seemingly miscast people can do an amazing job with the right crew and material.

I care about the portrayals and the script. So far, X-Men movies have been sub-par to the comics in (almost?) everything.

Pretty much all the characters in the movies are wrong.

A reboot would be nice, but as long as Fox is making a profit they'll keep making them this way.

Lets be honest here...these are all Wolverine movies with the X-Men on the side. The only X-Men movie that represents X-Men the closest is X-Men First Class. Even though that wasn't actually the first class from the comic, it was the closest one to representing what X-Men are suppose to be about.

I'll probably watch this movie eventually, but not in theaters. Fox needs to get the message that pushing Wolverine all the time can't work for every X-Men movie anymore. Wolverine is awesome, but my favorite X-Men has always been Nightcrawler and they BAMFed him away with hardly an explanation. Gambit was totally misused as well and we'll never get to see him playfully interact with Rogue.

They also ruined the deadpool character in the wolverine origins movie. The xmen series has not been adapted well :(
