In the film Richie Furst (Justin Timberlake) is a genius when it comes to online poker he sees things others don’t and knows what move you will make before you do. He is a struggling college student attending the University of Princeton and has found himself in tremendous debt. He pays for his student loans by luring fellow students towards online gambling sites and gets commission for each new member. This lands Furst in hot water with the University and must give it up. Before doing so Richie needs one last chance to win a large sum of money to hold him over until graduation. This last attempt leads to Richie losing every last penny to his name. With Richie being a genius when it comes to poker he realizes that he has been cheated and needs to find the man behind it. This leads him to Costa Rica to confront the man who runs the poker site that cause him to lose his tuition money Mr. Ivan Block (Ben Affleck).
