It feels like there’s an evil festering within the margins of The Bling Ring, a fascinating new film from couture auteur Sofia Coppola. It’s the kind of film that depicts the secret lives of teenagers with no moral compass, a movie that lives vicariously as you shake your head in disgust. To be judgy is to openly acknowledge the gap between yourself and these kids, rich socialites with no drive and no compunction other than to have “swagger,” often at the cost of lasting friendships, romances and family. It was almost as if they were pumping nail polish into the theater in an attempt to slowly kill you with glamour.
