At the end of the 21st century chemical warfare has left earth nearly uninhabitable. There are only two bastions of civilisation left and the current living space is dwindling rapidly. The United Federation of Britain and the Colony are connected via a giant elevator known as The Fall. Robots and armed security protect The Fall as it is a symbol of oppression to the masses of low income workers. Douglas Quaid, a production line worker for the synthetic police force decides to visit one of the Rekall facilities. Douglas is offered the experiences of a spy and in doing so restoring the memories of his actual life.
