Geek Binge: Taken 2 is a bad movie. Not just because it doesn’t bring anything new to the table, not just because it features one of the most phoned-in performances by Liam Neeson I’ve ever witnessed OR because the film’s action sequences are incomprehensible, but because it’s lazy. In a year where we’ve got a film like The Grey that featured both an extraordinary Liam Neeson performance AND a story that manages to actually say something about life and create authentic tension, a movie like Taken 2 shouldn’t be tolerated, in this year or any other year for that matter. I didn’t hate Taken 2 when I left the theater, instead I departed the theater Friday night with feelings that resembled disappointment and frustration instead.
