Reading through the comments on that article i'd say people aren't yet ready for such a film. Religion leads to war because everyone things they are right.
i know there is an upcoming noah film but cain and abel seriously? the story is somewhat short and there's no special effects that can be added to it like noah story, moses story, david story etc. adam and eve might be a more attractive adaptation but cain and abel its just a stor you can make as long as 30 minutes the most unless you make an untold/fictional story that wasnt in the bible.
