Man of Steel - Trailer #2 Analysis

The Hergula: Christopher Nolan´s “The Dark Knight” trilogy is to thank for the upcoming serious superhero movies like “Iron Man 3″ and of course “Man of Steel”. Decades upon decades have we seen superhero movies with humor and corny jokes that give the films a more light-hearted feel. While there is nothing wrong with that, especially because humor sells, it is still more satisfying to see more serious, emotional and dramatic superhero movie that is not sprinkled with cheap humor. “The Dark Knight” trilogy did not only paint the way for upcoming superhero films, but it seems that the upcoming “Man of Steel” may even be an improvement over “The Dark Knight” trilogy...

The darkness in the film makes it more real. Like batman (christopher nolan) movies. I personally dont want jokes and iddy giddy ness in action movies. Thats the reason transformers sucked.

The DArk Night was full of jokes lol (mostly from joker, but there was plenty of times where i actualy laughed )

TheHergulaX4068d ago

You are correct, but it is still dark humor, it is up to you if you laugh or dont, it is all about making The Joker feel like his playing games, because essentially, that´s what he is doing.

But I understand what you mean.

You just compared transformers to Nolan's movies. . . I think I see a recurring trend with "Nolan fans".

Sahil4068d ago

Not a Nolan fan, I just like his work.

God forgive me for comparing those two.

Dark aesthetics don't make a movie more real. This "Dark, grounded, & gritty" trope is fast becoming the next tired gimmick in Hollywood.

A movie is realistic when characters are both relatable and believable, the performances convincing, and the events make sense within the confines of that particular world. A dark color palette & mood is a stylistic choice, nothing more. If that's all it really took to make movies resonate with people, then films like Dark City, and heck, all of film noir before it, cracked that code a long time ago.

I really don't want a Superman movie without Lex Luthor. I will begrudgingly see this though, just not the first weekend. That will be my mini protest.

TheHergulaX4068d ago

I believe that Lex Luthor will most likely be mentioned in one way or another, yet I believe him appearing in a sequel, depends highly on how well Man of Steel does at the box office

Simon_Brezhnev4068d ago

Yeah i want Lex in it more after watching the latest episode of Young Justice. Lex and Joker are my all time favorite villains.

OSIRUSSS4068d ago

I hope LL gets mentioned. In the DC universe he is my Favorite villain.

Empire X4068d ago

I'm a bit over Lex. I think he should be in it but not the main focus. I want to see Superman fight others that are just as strong as he is.
