Nope. It was Scorsese. Wasn't a sci-fi/fantasy film really like the ones you mentioned. But truly magical. It was Scorsese's ode to cinema really. Definitely should check it out if you havent seen it. It's on Netflix I'm pretty sure.
For me, the most magical movie that comes to mind in recent years is Hugo.
