I wouldn't say they're milking it. And definitely not beating a dead horse. That would imply the franchise has gone to shit and has no use anymore. But that's quite untrue. I've enjoyed all the Pirates movies and thought they were all good. Sometimes sequels are just sequels. Not necessarily milking. Just because a franchise has more than one sequel doesn't make it a bad thing.

You want milking or beating a dead horse? Go look at Saw 75 or Final Destinati...

Here's an idea: maybe the choices were just the best choices for the roles regardless of race. Y'all forget asians/blacks/etc are still MINORITIES for a reason. That reason being there's not nearly as many as there are whites. Especially in Hollywood. Maybe the role should just go to the person that plays the role best. Based on skill and acting, not based on color. It's actually funny, I've seen two of these articles now and both are claiming racism by saying that Hollywo...

That's what you get for getting your hopes up about a Shyamalan movie.

Imagine that. A Shyamalan ending sucks. They've all sucked but one, maybe two (I guess Signs was decent). Other than that though that's his M.O. Stupid twists and crappy endings. He should hang it up.

Wanted above 30 Days of Night? Not hardly. I actually really enjoyed 30 Days. And I wouldn't put Constantine that low either, really enjoyed that movie as well.

Timecop. lol I'm sorry but Van-Damme doesn't make good movies. That definitely shouldn't be above 30 Days either. In fact shouldn't be on the list.

I freakin loved V for Vendetta and think that should be much higher on the list as well.

Didn't know Road to Pe...

Hollywood really knows how to milk a franchise don't they. If they want a rental from me (and that's all they have a chance of getting), then they better make some seriously cool/creative death scenes. After all, that is the sole appeal of the franchise. The last one just didn't impress me. Some of it was cool, but seemed they relied too much on the 3D gimmick to try to make some rather uncreative deaths look cool by having things popping out of the screen right at your face.

I'm definitely going to have to check this out. This is getting GREAT reviews (right up there with Toy Story 3). We could have some new contenders for Pixar in Universal/Illumination. That's of course if they can keep bringing quality like this and ride this momentum. Or at the very least contenders to DreamWorks (now that sounds more plausible). Definitely eager to see this though.

I'm going with the 30 Days of Night attack. Now that was a vampire movie in my opinion. Those were the best vampires in a long while, if not ever, in my opinion.

Hmm I don't know. All I've ever seen him in was Doctor Parnassus. And going off just that I'm not sure I see it really. I wouldn't have minded seeing Jamie Bell do it maybe.

That being said, a reboot of the franchise really? Doesn't it seem a bit too early for that? I mean it's only been 3 years since the last one, that's the kind of time difference for sequels, not for full out reboots.

I love Christopher Nolan's work. He may very well be my favorite director of modern times. I mean come on, the guy has yet to make a bad movie. And it says even more that not only does he direct these movies, he's writing them as well (along with his brother of course, they make a great team). Very much excited for Inception.

I think a Top 5 list like this could actually be comprised of nothing but Shyamalan stuff lol.

Let me say I love the Sherlock Holmes series. I have all the books. Read them all. At least the ones by Doyle. Love them. And for once it was nice to see somebody (Ritchie and Downey) portray Sherlock more accurately to the books. Everything I've ever seen about him always has him as this sort of distinguished proper English gentleman. Not at all the case. So it was nice to see a more accurate portrayal of Holmes (though there were bits that weren't right, but still better than I'...

M. Night Shyamalan. LOL. That's all I have to say. The Sixth Sense was good. Signs was bearable. Everything else has been pretty much garbage. The Village was crap. Then comes along Lady in the Water which somehow manages to top The Village in the "stinking it up" category. And then we have The Happening, which somehow, when it seemed impossible, was even worse than the two previous Shyamalan films. I've lost absolutely all hope for him. He should hang it up.

Agreed this is too far off for me to really be concerned about right now, but I also thought it should stay in Jackson's hands. I mean come on, he led up through the Lord of the Rings trilogy, might as well keep at it and take us on that Hobbit ride in a world he had become very intimate with. Del Toro was a good choice since he can indeed put a nice appeal to a fantasy world like that, but always I would prefer Jackson over any other at this point.

Yes extended editions on blu-ray. Most likely that's when I'll pick it up as well.

E.T.: How do you put Flight of the Navigator but completely miss ET? ET is an absolute must-see for the kids.

Wizard of Oz: Another absolute classic that tops the list of must-see movies to watch with the kids.

Bad News Bears: A much better "misfits who overcome the odds" movie than Might Ducks that should be shared with our younger generations.

Babe/Charlotte's Web/The Incredible Journey/Milo and Otis/Benji/Lassie Come Home: Al...

Hmm let's see:
Willy Wonka--yea that's a classic, definitely worth it. I don't see the need to downplay the Burton/Depp rendition though, it was a good movie in it's own rights, just a bit of a reimagining than the original was. Both are good though and stick to the book in their own way

AbsentMinded/LoveBug/MaryPopp ins/SwissFamily/ShaggyDog/Pare ntTrap--a bunch of classics that would always make for good views with the kids. I'd probably also thr...

That's cool I guess. I still want to get the trilogy on Blu-ray. But thinking about it, if you're wanting these movies on blu-ray obviously you'll want all three of them. So why pay $25 for each disc when you can just get the set for $60?

5049d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yea is a bit lame since this is every movie they've made (obviously the list isn't including Toy Story 3 since it's just released and this is past releases).

Agreed, loved National Treasure movies. Just a fun time. Justin Bartha helped make those movies more enjoyable too.

On that note, while, yes, Cage has been involved in some pretty crap movies (I'm looking at you Wicker Man and Bangkok Dangerous), he's still a real good actor when he wants to be. You need look no further than Leaving Las Vegas or Matchstick Men or even his dual role in Adaptation. And he's done well in plenty other enjoyable movies such as Lord of...
