Yes, it took me down that road too for 5 years I was a faithful fan and then it was like I was hit with a something really big when the finale was shown. I never want to go down that road again. If it comes back I won't watch.

I love The X-Files, but honestly there was nothing super exciting about the initial run of episodes. It wasn't until the end of the first season that the show really started coming into it's own.

BSG, on the other hand, was amazing. Granted, it cheated a bit by having a mini-series for the pilot, and thus was able to cram a bunch of story and character development in right away, but it was a solid play that worked out extremely well. If the series had ended as well as it started, I would easily call it my favorite sci-fi show of all time. As it is now, it's in my top 5.
