HBO Is Hunting Game of Thrones Pirates: What Does This Mean to You?

A media screener of the first four episodes of Game of Thrones' new season leaked online before the season premiere. HBO responded by targeting those who downloaded it. Who's truly to blame when a media screener is leaked online by the entertainment media, though?

Geez people. Just borrow them from your local library. Assuming your library has a decent dvd collection.

I don't think my local library had those 4 leaked episodes

ajax173290d ago

Lol. Didn't read the article. I thought they were talking about last season.

librarys still exist? The internet is my library.

People have been pirating for years now. What, just because you have the biggest show in the world currently, then you decide to take action?

How many viewers would you have if all the people who watched them only got it through legitimate means?

Also, piracy is used for those who dont have access to these shows because theyre not shown on their loval TV channels. Youre gonna punish them because they enjoy your show but have no other means to watch them?

the distribution channels and availability could be improved for sure but that still doesn't entitle anyone from getting the content for free. this is entertainment, not necessities in life. there is an investment made to get these shows created and i find it hard to believe there is no means of getting the content in a world where things like dvd's are shipped worldwide.

u gotta love people who try to rationalize stealing like its ok in some form. I can understand stealing cause your hungry.. but cmon... game of thrones? really lol..

"Youre gonna punish them because they enjoy your show but have no other means to watch them?"

uh yea...that's the point of subscription based services, to provide their paid users with content they enjoy.

Considering that there's now a standalone internet HBO viewer, I don't think you can really blame HBO for not making themselves available to the general public. What is it, like $15 a month?

But otherwise, I agree that content providers can't get TOO angry that people pirate when they stick their shows behind a premium cable package and don't make it available separately. Double pay walls aren't cool.

hazelamy3290d ago

means bugger all to me, i haven't pirated it.

i pay my nowtv sub to get it legally.

WizzroSupreme3290d ago

This is just plain sad that fans are this desperate to go to these lengths in the first place.

Lord_Sloth3290d ago

I have HBO and can watch it on demand easily. This doesn't effect me.
