That's because the lower paid people do their jobs very well which results in the safety of the higher paid people. If some1 dies, it's usually the result of negligence (see Brandon Lee and Vic Morrow). Sad to say it but he probably overloaded the lift.

This series has already greatly strayed from the comic series. Shane's still alive for 1, Daryl and Meryl never existed in the comics, neither did the Black dude, and there are some characters from the comics who aren't in the show. I keep up with both though because it's neat seeing how both of them turn out.
Now we just need to cast Tony Jaa as Tetsuo, Joon Lee as Kaneda, and make a few other wise choices (at least 1 of which should be Rain) and every1 will be happy.
