February Contest Details

JL|3384d ago |Blog Post|13|

Oscar season is back and so is our Oscar Prediction Contest. This year we'll be doing it slightly different, though. You'll find details below. Plus we have several other chances for you guys and gals to win prizes. Check it all out below.

*****CONTRIBUTOR CONTEST*****
Per usual here, we'll give out gift cards for the winners here. And again, this will just be the news score (minus the News Bonus).
1st place: $75 Amazon gift card
2nd place: $50 Amazon gift card
3rd place: $25 Amazon gift card

*****COMMENT LOTTERY*****
Be one of the top 15 commenters for the month here on Filmwatch and you'll be entered in to win one of our two prizes. At the end of the month, two winners will be drawn from the pool of 15 to receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

*****OSCAR PREDICTION CONTEST*****
The winner of the Oscar Prediction Contest will win a $50 Amazon Gift card. This year, instead of splitting it up each week, we're just going to do it all in one big lump since I've noticed over years past some people don't get to make it back around in time for the later categories posted, thus miss out on it a bit. Check back later for me to post the prediction contest on a separate blog post.

SO there it is everyone. Good luck. And everybody get busy figuring out your Oscar predictions as well.

Rules and Guidelines:
1. DVD prizes are for standard movies only. Box sets, special collector's editions or seasons of TV shows are not allowed unless otherwise stated.
2. Competition is open to all FilmWatch users, except for employees of HAVAmedia and immediate relatives. Contests are not limited to the US/NA.
3. In the event of unforeseen circumstances FilmWatch/HAVAmedia reserves the right to substitute the prizes for alternatives of equal or greater value.
4. Spamming of comments, heat altering or cheating of any nature will result in disqualification from all contests for the month.
5. Prizes are not transferrable.
6. The winners of the competition will be notified by PM here on FilmWatch.
7. Failure to reply to PM notification within seven (7) days results in forfeiture of prize.

Hey JL - if someone happens to be top 3 contributor, and they have the highest number of correct predictions, will they win both?

coolbeans3384d ago (Edited 3384d ago )

I'm not sure if JL operates things differently over here, but that's happened to me on N4G (Blog + review).

In fact, there doesn't seem to be any caveats listed that one couldn't win in all 3 categories listed above (though it is very improbable).

Crazay3384d ago

Used to be able to win them all at one time.

RetrospectRealm3384d ago

JL has said previously that you only get the highest value of prize if you happen to win both. The other one is given to the next person in line as to keep it fair.

JL3383d ago

The rules used to dictate that you could only win one prize. However, that rule has been out of effect for a while now. So...yes, if you are in the Top 3 in Contributors and get the most accurate predictions, you will win both.

Time to step my game up. :D

Question: Are all those *One Comment Wonder* accounts eligble for the Oscar Prediction Contest? I've been reporting them every day and just wanted to know if it matters. Are these accounts exempt because of Rule 2, or are they lumped in the category of Rule 4?

RetrospectRealm3384d ago

YES! Looking forward to the predictions. Very fun.

I think this year may be a little harder to predict. For best actor I would say that Keaton, Cumberbatch and Redmayne all have an equal chance.

WizzroSupreme3384d ago

So it begins. May the best poster win.

Can't wait for the Oscar prediction contest. I know I won't come anywhere close, but it's still fun.
