The Daily Rotation - 21 Jump Street Review

Jeremy of The Daily Rotation wrote, "21 Jump Street is the latest comedy inspired by past material. It’s a film that sounds like it doesn’t need to be made, yet it somehow works wonders. Channing Tatum finally delivers that performance we’ve all been waiting for and Jonah Hill helps make the film even better with his usual humor. It’s a mixture of all of the right elements to make a near-perfect film. Something that’s rare, especially in its genre. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller transition well into the R-rated comedy, bringing their crazy antics from their previous film, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and making it work extremely well."

I'm sure it's going to be very funny and I'll see it when it comes out on dvd but I almost wish they had done 21 Jump Street with the serious side to it like the show was and and not made it a comedy...I would have at least like to have seen some seriousness to it.

Whenever they do that, it seems, it just comes off unintentionally funny. That's why Dukes of Hazzard and Starsky & Hutch movies worked, because they did them as comedies. If you did a gritty 21 Jump Street, people would laugh anyway, so they figure might as well make it a comedy.

I watched it last night, was lucky to get invited to see an early screening, it is a very funny movie, there was a couple of nice surprises at the end. To me the best laugh is right at the end :D
