Deadline says:
Who says that female comedy writers aren’t funny? That old Hollywood stereotype was shattered this fall by the two big breakout new hits of the season — comedies New Girl, created by a woman, Liz Meriwether, and 2 Broke Girls, co-created by one, Whitley Cummings. What’s more, the other 3 new comedy series to receive full-season orders were also created by women, ABC’s Suburgatory (Emily Kapnek) and NBC’s Up All Night (Emily Spivey) and Whitney (Cummings). Now the duo of Jennifer Crittenden & Gaby Allan and Cassie Pappas are looking to follow in their footsteps with single-camera projects set up at ABC and Fox, respectively.
