It's Official: James Spader Joins 'The Office' as New CEO

THR Writes: As reported by THR on June 24, the actor will take the job previously held by Kathy Bates, who will return to NBC's "Harry's Law."

It's official: NBC has announced that James Spader has joined the regular cast of The Office as its new CEO.

The Emmy-winning actor will join the half-hour comedy as CEO Robert California of Sabre, the parent company of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Co. Spader replaces Kathy Bates, who stars in another NBC series, Harry's Law.

I thought he was going to be taking over for Steve Correll but instead he's going to be the new CEO. From what I understand that's the part Kathy Bates used to have. I didn't even know she used to be on the show.

Hadn't thought of Christopher Lloyd....not a bad idea though. I think they might get someone from within the cast now....who elso did they interview at the end of the season?
