I was ad to hear of his passing. He was a great actor and some of my earliest and fondest movie and TV memories were of him. I used to watch Columbo with my grandparents every time a new murder mystery would come on. Spending so much time with them and watching TV with them is one of my greatest childhood memories. And that he is the narrator and grandfather in The Princess Bride, one of my all time favorite movies, was just another special something that I remember him by. It is a sad day in Hollywood indeed.

I feel the same was as you Arcee - I used to stay with my grandparents every now and then and they never missed Columbo. He was awesome in that show. Th bumbling police detective who seems to know nothing but knows everything is all him.

Is it bad that the only thing I've seen him in is Corky Romano? I enjoyed that film a lot even though people like to hate on it.

He was the best...not only the grandfather in the Princess Bride reading the story but the original The In-Laws that was made in 1979 with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin. That was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen...I'm going to have to look for that movie and buy it just to watch it now that i'm thinking of it.
