We Got This Covered
Snyder slavishly recreates some iconic comic-book images, and he makes some of them (Batman zipping away from an explosion with his grappling hook, Superman being swarmed by awestruck humans who’ve just witnessed him in action) look properly majestic. But he labors to create such shots, and the evocative, gloomy aesthetic the director adopts for most of the film is suffocating in its intricate self-seriousness. Snyder, it seems, learned all the wrong lessons from Man of Steel – he’s an artful composer of vivid frames who fails to retain within his shots any semblance of soul or stimulus. This is, in the end, a superhero movie muffled so completely that it feels lifeless. The plot is atrocious because Snyder isn’t focused on it nearly as much as he is establishing a narrow, confining tone for WB and DC’s now jeopardized world.
When a messiah is needed, does it matter how a planet gets one? That's what we'll discuss in our Dune Part Two Review!
On the big screen, numerous Dark Knights flaunted their abs and flexed their muscles for the audience; however, Christian Bale's Batman physique remains the greatest.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the latest of the rebooted Planet of the Apes series and is a solid movie despite not being on par with the previous movies.
Figures. Snyder's still learning how to direct a movie, much less understand comic books.
I loved most of Man of Steel and most of the Watchmen, if this movie is similar or better than Man of Steel than I'm sure I'll love it. I'm sorry that people are disappointed that DC is trying to carve out their own space in the film world and not trying to mimic what Marvel is doing.
Honestly, as much as a huge fan I am of the DK trilogy, the Dark Knight Rises was disappointing on many levels for me as a Batman film fan as well as a comic fan, though I still enjoy it. Looking forward to this new take on the DC film universe.
Just got out of the late show for BvS. Not entirely sure what I think of it... Need time to reflect. There was def parts I really really enjoyed. But some story work issues did arise for me. A few pacing issues for sure.
All I can say for sure, Affleck was the bomb in phantoms yo. And he's my new favorite batman of all time. Can't wait for his solo films to get pushed ahead of the current schedual. I'm calling that right now.
Just saw the movie and I'm happy to see the critics are full of shit and so are half the internet. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Fantastic movie, yes there were flaws, which there were also in every single other comic book movie, especially the Dark Knight Trilogy (which was mostly awesome) not sure why people were predisposed to hate this movie, I could feel it months before it came out which is strange considering this is a good comic movie and I can think of several others that are worse..You people have no idea what you want anymore, you just know this wasn't it.
I'd probably give this movie a 7.5 out of 10. I do feel like it would have worked better if this story had been split it into two films to tell the whole story though, there was a bit much going on.
