"Birth is a beautiful romantic drama dealing with grief and love lost, but in any other director’s hands it would be a creepy movie about a disturbed woman. Similarly, Under the Skin is an arthouse sci-fi horror film that could be completely inaccessible, but it instead vibrantly relatable, painting a clear picture of daily life as a woman. While both are purposefully scary in their own right, the lady movie horror runs much deeper.
