Action movies follow the same ham-fisted formula; there's usually a good guy versus a bad guy, multiple explosions, a high speed chase or a trigger happy showdown of epic proportions. If it doesn’t have one or all of the above it’s not likely to be action-packed or an action movie for that matter.
However, that’s not to say audiences should expect the same repetitive sequences or super-human characters with each viewing. Vigilantes, time travellers and bank robbers all have the potential to be an action heroes - making this genre all the more entertaining to watch. Its a decent list - for my own I would have added some more Hong Kong Stuff Ip Man, Armour of God, Killzone. And I'd put Super Cop over Police Story. Throw in some Carpenter movies - Big Trouble, Escape from NY, a sprinkling of JCVD Sudden Death is a must for me.
'Mad Max: Fury Road' is on that list but NOT 'Mad Max 2'? seriously that movie is way better than Fury Road IMO.
