AVClub: Abigail Disney’s documentary The Armor Of Light introduces Reverend Rob Schenck in an intentionally inflammatory way: via old news footage of the evangelical pastor at an Operation Rescue rally, walking through an angry pro-choice crowd with a model of an aborted fetus cupped in his palms. To the news cameras, he describes his demonstration as an attempt to force “a crisis of conscience.” But Disney quickly clarifies that Schenck isn’t just a showman, stumping for a sociopolitical cause. He “walks the walk,” as conservative Christians say. When some fringe pro-life activists started turning to violence, and when eruptions of mass shootings across America started becoming an epidemic, he began to question whether the anti-abortion crowd had been too silent about our gun-loving culture—and if so, why.
